The best way to remove red wine stains from tunics is to act as quickly as possible. Blot the area as soon as you spill the wine using a cloth or paper towel to absorb as much of the liquid as you can. Do not rub the stain as this can push the wine further into the fabric and make it more difficult to remove.

Once you have blotted the stain, you will need to pre-treat it. A mixture of dishwashing liquid and white vinegar, applied directly to the stain, should do trick. Let the mixture sit on the fabric for at least 15 minutes, then rinse with cold water. Repeat this step as needed until the stain has been removed.

If the stain remains after pre-treating, try soaking the garment in warm water and laundry detergent for up to thirty minutes. Rinse the tunic with cold water, using your hands to agitate the fabric and help break down stain. If it is still visible, try rubbing in a small amount of ammonia and allowing it to sit for 10 minutes before rinsing.

If these methods fail, it’s time to move on to harsher solutions. Bleach-based products are effective for removing red wine stains from fabrics, however, they should only be used when other methods have failed. Make sure to spot test any bleaching agents before using them as they can cause discoloration to some fabrics.

No matter what method you choose to clean your garment, make sure to follow up with an appropriate laundry cycle to ensure that all cleaning agents have been removed. Air drying is always the best option as it helps preserve the fabric’s natural fibers
