Red wine is an age-old favorite, but consequences of spilling it can be disastrous. Fortunately, removing red wine stains from your clothing isn’t as difficult as it seems. Here are five steps that will help you to effectively remove red wine stains from a T-shirt:

  1. When you notice the red wine stain on your T-shirt, don’t waste any time - absorb as much of the liquid as possible using a paper towel or a white cotton cloth.
  2. Once you’ve managed to soak up most of the red wine from the surface of fabric, it’s time to create a cleaning solution. You can easily make it at home by mixing one cup of cool water with a teaspoon of white vinegar or lemon juice.
  3. Take cloth, dip it in the cleaning solution, and gently apply it to the red wine stain. Rub the cloth in a circular motion over the stain until it starts to fade away.
  4. Removing all trace of the red wine stain can be quite difficult. To make sure it’s gone for good, cover stain with a spoonful of salt. Leave the salt to sit there for a few minutes before rinsing the stained area with plain water.
  5. If traces of the stain still remain, mix equal parts of white vinegar and warm water in a bowl and apply the mixture to stain with a cloth. Rinse with cold water when done. Afterward, hang the T-shirt out in the sun and let it dry completely.

You can now wear your T-shirt without worrying about red wine stains. If you want to prevent the stains from happening in the future, consider using a spot remover spray or hydrogen peroxide. Spray area with either of these solutions before applying your cleaning solution.
