The first thing you should do when dealing with a red wine stain is to quickly remove any excess liquid by blotting it with a clean, dry cloth. Don’t rub the stain – this will only spread it further.
Once you’ve managed to blot up as much of the red wine as possible, it’s time to treat the stain. For Tencel, it’s best to use a mild detergent or a solution of dish detergent and cold water. Dip your clean, damp cloth into the mixture and blot the stain gently. Repeat until the stain has been completely removed.
Once you’ve successfully treated the stain, rinse the area with cold water and then pat it dry with a clean, dry cloth. To ensure stain has been completely removed, you can run your fingers over the area to feel for any residue.
When you’re done, hang the piece of fabric up to air-dry. Try not to put it in the dryer as this could set the stain.
