Red wine can leave a nasty stain if it's not addressed quickly. If possible, immediately rinse with cold water for at least several minutes. This will help to reduce the chances that the red wine will set into the fabric. If you're unable to rinse right away, blot the area with a clean cloth or paper towel.
Mix a few drops of dish soap with hydrogen peroxide, then use a cloth to blot it onto the stain. The combination of two detergents should help lift the red wine from the fabric. Be careful not to rub the area too harshly, as this could cause more damage to the swim trunks. Allow the cleaning solution to sit on stain and work its magic.
Once the cleaning solution has done its job, rinse the stained area with cold water. If you notice that the stain is still present, repeat steps two and three until the stain is gone.
When stain has been removed, it's time to wash the swim trunks according to the instructions on the tag. This might include a machine wash or a hand wash. No matter what method you choose, make sure to use a gentle detergent without dyes or perfumes. This will prevent any further staining.
Air-dry the swim trunks in a place away from direct sunlight. This will help ensure that the color doesn't fade and that fabric isn't damaged by the sun. Once they are dry, they are ready to wear!
