When a glass of red wine spills, it can leave an ugly stain on any type of fabric. Unfortunately, suede is one of more difficult fabrics to clean. But don't worry, it's not impossible! Just follow these simple steps for how to clean red wine stains from suede.

How to Clean Red Wine Stains from Suede

  1. As soon as possible, gently blot the stained area to absorb as much of the red wine as possible.
  2. Mix a solution of ¼ teaspoon mild dish soap and 1 cup lukewarm water.
  3. Dip a white cloth into the solution and wring it out so it's damp, not wet.
  4. Gently dab at the stained area with the cloth.
  5. Blot gently, do not scrub or rub, as this may damage the suede fibers.
  6. After removing as much of the stain as possible, rinse the area with cold water.
  7. Let the stain air dry completely.
  8. Once completely dry, use a suede brush or a nylon-bristled toothbrush to raise the nap of the suede.
