It’s important to remember that the sooner you treat a wine stain on silk faille, better the results. Directly after an accident, blot the stained area with a clean cloth or paper towel to absorb as much of the liquid as possible. Be careful not to rub the material, as this will only spread stain. Once you’ve absorbed as much liquid as you can, use one of the following methods to remove the rest of stain.
Once stain has been removed, it’s important to dry the fabric thoroughly. Use a clean, white towel to gently press the fabric without rubbing. Do not put silk faille in the dryer, as heat could cause stain to set even further. It’s also a good idea to have the item professionally cleaned afterwards, as there may be traces of the stain still present.
Prevent future wine spills by avoiding use of wine glasses with stems on them. It’s best to opt for stemless glasses, especially if you’re entertaining guests wearing silk faille clothing. It’s also a good idea to serve wine in carafes whenever possible, so the guests can pour their own drinks without fear of knocking something over.
