Steps to Remove Red Wine Stains from Shorts
- Act quickly! The longer the red wine stain is on your shorts, more difficult it will be to remove. The sooner you start the process, the better.
- Use a damp cloth to gently blot excess wine from your shorts. Do not rub or scrub the fabric or you could spread the stain.
- Fill a container with cold water and add 1-2 tablespoons of white vinegar. This mixture helps to break down the red wine.
- Soak the stained area of your shorts in the mixture for 15-20 minutes.
- Gently rub the stained area with a mild, non-bleach detergent. If necessary, use a soft-bristled brush for persistent stains.
- Rinse stained area with cold water and check to see if the stain has been removed.
- If the stain persists, apply a small amount of a commercial stain remover to the area, following the instructions on the package.
- Rinse the stained area with cold water and repeat steps 5-7 until stain is gone.
- Once the stain is removed, launder the shorts following care instructions on the clothing label.
Tips
- For best results, use cold water when removing a red wine stain from shorts.
