When the worst happens and you get a stubborn red wine stain on your favourite shirt, it can be a stressful situation. Whether you're at a dinner party or social event, don't panic! With a few easy steps you can restore your shirt and get rid of stain.

Step 1: Blot the Stain

Using a clean cloth or paper towel, press down on the stain immediately to remove any excess wine that is still on the surface of the fabric. Doing so will help the stain come out more easily and prevent it from sinking further into the material.

Step 2: Soak in White Wine

Using a spray bottle or a bowl, apply white wine on top of the red wine stain. This will help to break down the pigment of red wine and make it easier to remove. Leave it to soak for 15-20 minutes.

Step 3: Add Detergent

Once the white wine has had time to soak in, add a few drops of gentle detergent onto the stained area. Gently rub it in, using circular motions. This will help to break down the stain molecules and make them easier to remove.

Step 4: Wash and Air Dry

Once you have pre-treated the stain with the detergent, wash your shirt according to the washing instructions on the label. After washing, lay the shirt out flat to air dry. Avoid using a tumble dryer, which can cause the stain to set more permanently.

If stain still persists after following these steps, you can try repeating process or take it to the dry cleaner for a deep clean.
