Time is of the essence when it comes to removing red wine from Ralph Lauren fabrics. As soon as you spill the wine, blot the stain with a cloth or paper towel before taking further steps to clean it.
Before moving forward with cleaning the stain, it’s important to determine what type of fabric you’re working with. If you’re dealing with a natural fabric like cotton or wool, use warm water and detergent to pre-treat the stain. For synthetic fabrics like polyester or nylon, use cold water and a gentle detergent.
Once you’ve determined what kind of fabric you’re working with, pre-treat stain with warm or cold water and detergent. You may also want to use a stain remover for tougher stains. Rub fabric together to work the solution into the fibers, and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
Wash the fabric using hot, warm, or cold water setting on the washing machine. Add a capful of detergent to the wash, and use a chlorine or oxygen bleach if necessary. Allow fabric to air dry or use a low-heat spin cycle in the dryer.
