If you have a cotton, polyester, or a poly-cotton blend pullover, then the spill can be easily addressed. Here is how you can remove those pesky red wine spots from your favorite pullover:

  • Gently Blot Stain - Use a paper towel or dry white cloth to blot up as much of red wine as possible. Do not rub or scrub the fabric as this could spread the stain.
  • Pretreat with Hydrogen Peroxide - Make sure to use three percent hydrogen peroxide only and not something stronger. Pour some onto a clean cloth and dab the stain. Leave it for 10 minutes before rinsing with cold water.
  • Pre-treat the Stain Again with a Detergent Solution - Mix half teaspoon liquid dish soap with 1 cup of warm water, then use a clean cloth to dab the stain with the mixture. Leave it for 10 minutes and then rinse with cold water.
  • Wash the Pullover in the Machine - Finally, you should put the pullover in the washing machine according to the care instructions. Use a mild detergent and cool water. Dry the pullover in the dryer or air dry.

If done correctly, red wine stain should be gone. Otherwise, you should repeat the steps until the stain is gone.
