Before you do anything else, take a clean, white cloth and gently press down on stain to absorb as much of the red wine as possible. Be sure not to rub or scrub the fabric, as this will only set the stain deeper into the fabric.
In a bowl, mix equal parts liquid laundry detergent and water. Gently stir the mixture until it is completely combined.
Take your cloth and dip it into the detergent solution. Gently blot the stained area, making sure to saturate entire stain. Let the stain sit for 10 to 15 minutes. This will help the detergent solution penetrate the fabric and break up the stain.
Rinse the poncho with cold water and repeat steps 2 and 3 until the stain is gone. After each rinse, blot the poncho with a clean cloth to absorb excess moisture and detergent.
Once you have finished rinsing and blotting, lay the poncho flat to air dry. Once it is dry, check to make sure that stain is gone. If it is still there, repeat steps 2 and 3.
Getting red wine out of your poncho may seem like a daunting task, but with the right knowledge and supplies, it can be done! We hope our step-by-step guide has been helpful in teaching you how to remove red wine stains from your poncho.
