The first step is to quickly act. Before the stain sets in, soak the stained area in cold water for at least 30 minutes or until it is completely saturated. This will help to loosen and prevent stain from setting into the fibers.
After soaking, create a mixture of one part dish soap and one part white vinegar. White vinegar helps to break down stain and prevent it from setting into fabric.
Next, use a soft cloth or sponge to rub the mixture onto the stain in a circular motion. Be sure to work the mixture in deep enough that stain is thoroughly saturated with solution.
Once stain has been saturated with the mixture, rinse away the solution using warm water. You may need to do this several times in order to completely remove the stain.
Your last step is to launder the shirt as normal in a washing machine. Check the shirt after it has gone through cycle to make sure the stain is completely gone. If not, repeat steps 1-4 before laundering again.
