Steps to Remove Red Wine Stains from Your Pants

  1. Act quickly! The sooner you tackle the stain, the better. Blot the stain with white paper towels. Gently press down to help draw the spilled wine out of your pants and onto towel.
  2. If the stain persists, pour a small amount of club soda directly over the affected area of your trousers. Use another white paper towel to blot the stain again and lift it from fabric.
  3. Mix up a homemade spot remover with one tablespoon of liquid detergent, one tablespoon of white vinegar, and two cups of warm water. Stir this solution until combined, then apply it to the stain with a clean cloth.
  4. Gently rub the fabric together with cloth to loosen the stain. Rinse the area with cold water, and blot it dry with a fresh towel.
  5. If desired, try pre-treating stain with a commercial stain remover. Apply the remover according to manufacturer's directions.
  6. Launder your garment as usual with cold water. Hang or lay it flat to dry.
