Removing freshly stained kitchen utensils is a much simpler process than trying to remove old stains. For freshly made red wine stains, dab the stained area with some paper towels or a clean cloth. Take care not to spread the stain further by rubbing too hard. Once the excess liquid has been removed, wash it with warm soapy water and let it air dry.
If the stains have been on the utensil for some time, a few extra steps are necessary. Begin by soaking the stained utensil in some white vinegar overnight. The acidity of the vinegar will break down the old stain. The next day, take a clean cloth or paper towels and gently scrub the stain with some more vinegar until it begins to lift. Then, wash the utensil in warm, soapy water and let it air dry.
There are a few additional methods for removing red wine stains from kitchen utensils. Sprinkle some baking soda over stained area, then scrub with a sponge or toothbrush. This will help lift stain before washing with warm, soapy water and air drying. Alternatively, you can try using hydrogen peroxide as a bleaching agent to lighten the stain. Pour a small amount of hydrogen peroxide directly onto the stain and allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes. Wash with warm, soapy water and air dry.
Red wine stains don’t have to be a pesky reminder of an enjoyable evening. With these three simple steps, you can easily and quickly remove these stains from your kitchen utensils. Give one of these methods a try and you’ll never have to worry about stubborn red wine stains ever again.
