Materials Needed

  • White vinegar
  • Liquid detergent
  • Paper towels
  • Table salt
  • Baking soda
  • Laundry pretreater

Step 1: Blot Stain with Paper Towels

Use paper towels to blot the stain, rather than rubbing. Rubbing can drive the stain further into the fabric.

Step 2: Make a Mixture of White Vinegar and Liquid Detergent

Mix equal parts white vinegar and liquid detergent. Using a spoon or your finger, apply the mixture to the stain.

Step 3: Scrub the Stain with a Soft Brush

Using a soft-bristled brush, gently scrub the mixture into the stained area. This will help lift the stain from the fabric.

Step 4: Rinse the Stain in Cold Water

Rinse the stained area with cold water. This will remove any remaining residue.

Step 5: Apply Salt, Baking Soda, and Laundry Pretreater

Sprinkle a generous amount of table salt onto the stained area. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then rinse off with cold water. Then, mix equal parts baking soda and water and apply to the stain. Let this sit for 10 minutes, then rinse off.

Finally, apply a small amount of laundry pretreater directly to the stain, and let it sit for 15 minutes. Rinse off with cold water.

Conclusion

Removing red wine stains from hoodies can be a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be. With a few simple steps, you can easily get rid of those pesky red wine stains and have your hoodie looking good as new.
