First things first, you need to prepare the supplies that you’ll need to clean the red wine stain out of your down jacket:
Prior to handling the stained area of the down jacket, it’s important to rinse the affected area with cold water. Doing this will help preserve dye and materials in the fabric and will also prevent the stain from sinking in deeper into the fabric.
Once you’ve rinsed the reddened area of the down jacket, it is time for you to apply paper towel or a clean cloth as a blotting agent. This will help absorb the stain from fabric and prevent it from spreading further.
Once the blotting part is over, sprinkle some baking soda onto the stained area of the down jacket. This will help neutralize the acidic nature of the red wine stain and thus aiding the stain removal process.
Apply some detergent onto a sponger and add warm water to it. Then, use detergent-laden sponge to dab the affected areas of the down jacket to remove red wine stain.
Once you’ve applied the detergent on the affected area, rinse it out with cold water.
After all the above steps, lay your down jacket flat on a surface and allow it to air dry. Avoid using a hairdryer or other heat-driven drying device, as this may shrink the down jacket fabric and make the stain even more permanent.
By following the above 7-step guide, you can easily remove red wine stains from your down jacket. It is important to note, though, that the earlier you treat the stain, the better and easier is it to remove it. So be sure to act fast when it comes to treating red wine stains!
