Supplies Needed

  • White Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Dishwashing Liquid
  • Absorbent Towel or Sponge
  • Clean White Towel

Step 1 - Blot up the stain

The first step is to blot up as much of the red wine stain as possible with an absorbent towel or sponge. Do not rub stain as this will only make it worse.

Step 2 - Make a paste

Mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of white vinegar to form a paste. Gently rub paste into stain with a clean white towel and let it sit for 5 minutes.

Step 3 - Rinse the stain

Rinse the stained area in cold water. If stain persists, repeat steps 2 and 3 until stain is gone.

Step 4 - Use hydrogen peroxide

If the stain is still visible, mix one teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide with one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid. Gently rub the solution into the stain with a clean white towel. Let it sit for five minutes before rinsing off.

Step 5 - Wash normally

Once the stain is gone, wash the seersucker fabric as normal. Air dry or dry in the dryer on low heat.
