7 Genius Tips to Get That Red Wine Stain Out of Cotton
You never want it to happen, but every once in a while you're going to end up with a red wine stain on your favorite piece of cotton clothing or fabric. Here are some simple tips to help you get that wine out and leaving your clothes looking as good as new.

#1: Blotting
The first step to cleaning any stain is to blot area with paper towels or a clean cloth to absorb as much of the liquid as possible. Don't scrub or rub spot as this can cause stain to spread and set in deeper into the fabric.
#2: White Vinegar Mixture
Mix one part white vinegar to four parts warm water and use this mixture to gently dab the area. The vinegar will help to break down the stain and bring it to surface. Continue to blot the area with a paper towel until the stain has been removed.
#3: Cold Water and Detergent Soak
If stain is still there after blotting and applying the vinegar mixture, submerge the garment or fabric in cold water and add a few drops of dishwashing detergent. Soak the fabric for twenty minutes and then wash as usual.
#4: Salt Solution
If the stain is still not coming out, make a paste of salt, white vinegar and cold water and apply it to the stain. Allow the paste to sit for about fifteen minutes, then rinse and launder as usual.
#5: Dishwashing Liquid
If all else fails, mix a little bit of liquid dish soap with some warm water and use a soft brush to apply it to the stain. Rub gently, then rinse and launder.
#6: Baking Soda Paste
For extra tough stains, make a paste with baking soda and water and apply it to the spot. Allow it to sit for 30 minutes and then rinse with cold water. Afterward, launder as usual.
#7: Professional Cleaning
If you're still not able to remove the stain, take the item to a professional cleaner who will have special tools and products to help get it out.
