If you’ve recently spilt red wine on your coat and don’t know how to get it out, you’ve come to right place. Here are the steps you need to take to clean a red wine stain from your coat:

  • Blot area with a cloth or paper towel to remove as much of the wine as possible.
  • Mix a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid with a cup of warm water. Dip a cloth into the solution and dab the affected area.
  • Rinse with cold water, and repeat if necessary.
  • If stain is still present, mix a teaspoon of ammonia with a cup of cool water, and dab the area again.
  • Rinse the area again with cold water.
  • Finally, soak the area with a detergent specifically designed for delicate fabrics, such as wool. Follow instructions on packet.

Before you undertake any of the above steps, be sure to check the garment care label, or test a small hidden area to ensure that the treatment is suitable for the fabric.

By following these easy steps, your coat will look as good as new!
