  • White vinegar
  • Cold water
  • Laundry detergent
  • Oxygen-based bleach
  • Cups of salt

Steps for Cleaning Red Wine Stains from Cashmere

  1. Dab the stain gently with a damp cloth or paper towel to remove any excess liquid.
  2. Mix equal parts white vinegar and cold water in a bowl.
  3. Soak a clean cloth or cotton ball in the mixture.
  4. Gently rub the stained area with the cloth or cotton ball.
  5. If the stain persists, make a paste of laundry detergent, oxygen-based bleach and cold water. Apply the paste to the stain and let it sit for 1-2 hours.
  6. Rinse the area with cold water.
  7. Mix salt with cold water, dip a damp cloth in the mixture, and dab the stained area. (This helps to absorb the remaining wine and helps to lift the stain).
  8. Rinse the sweater with cold water and lay it flat in an open area to dry.
