To begin, it’s important to act fast! The longer you wait to treat the stain, the less likely it will be to come out. Blot at the stain gently with a paper towel or a clean cloth. Avoid rubbing the area, as this will only spread the stain further.

Once you’ve blotted up as much of the stain as possible, make a solution of one part white vinegar and two parts water. Place the stained area over a bowl, so that the vinegar mixture can be caught in bowl and not on the surrounding fabric. Pour the vinegar mixture over the stain and let it sit for 5-10 minutes.

After the vinegar has had a chance to work its magic, use a clean cloth to dab at the stained area. You may need to do this a few times, depending on the severity of the stain. You’ll know it’s been removed when you no longer see any discoloration on the fabric.

The final step is to rinse off stain and the vinegar mixture. You can do this by placing the garment in cold water and swishing it around for a few minutes. Once you’ve finished rinsing, launder the item as normal and hang it to dry.

And there you have it! By following these simple steps, you can get rid of red wine stains in calico fabric in no time.
