Red wine stains on brocade fabric can be a formidable challenge. Unlike many other fabrics, the dense weave of brocade can make it more difficult for you to treat stain, as liquid may not penetrate fabric readily. Fortunately, there are several methods that work to help get rid of the red wine stain.

Step 1: Blot the Stain Immediately

The best thing you can do when a red wine stain first appears is to blot it with a clean, white cloth or paper towel. Do not rub or scrub, as this will only spread the stain. Instead, start from the outside of the stain and continue blotting until you have absorbed as much of the liquid as possible.

Step 2: Treat the Stain with Salt or Club Soda

Once you've removed as much of the liquid as you can, you should treat the spot with either salt or club soda. The acid in soda or sodium in the salt can help to break down the stain and start to lift it from the fabric.

If you are using salt, sprinkle it liberally onto stain and let it sit for a few minutes before blotting it off. For club soda, pour some onto the stain and then blot with a clean cloth. Repeat these steps until the stain has been lifted as much as possible.

Step 3: Clean with Detergent or a Upholstery Cleaner

Once you have removed as much of the stain as you can with salt or soda, it's time to tackle the remainder of the spot with a detergent or a professional upholstery cleaner. Start by mixing a small amount of detergent with a bit of water to create a paste.

Using a clean cloth, dab the mixture onto the stain and let it sit for a few minutes before wiping it off with a damp cloth. If you are using a professional upholstery cleaner, follow the manufacturer's instructions to apply and remove the solution.

Step 4: Let Area Dry Completely

Once you have removed the stain, it's important to let the area dry completely before use. To speed up the drying process, consider using a hair dryer or fan. Once the area is completely dry, evaluate the spot to see if any discoloration has occurred.

If the stain is still visible, you may need to repeat the above steps or contact a professional for assistance. Additionally, if the area feels stiff or crunchy, you may need to treat it with a leather conditioner or special fabric softener.
