Removing Fresh Red Wine Stains
- Start by blotting up as much of wine as possible with a rag or paper towels. Blot from the outside of stain inward to avoid spreading the stain further.
- Soak the stain for 10 minutes in cold water.
- Mix laundry detergent and white vinegar together. Rub the soapy mixture onto the stain and let sit for 15 minutes.
- Rinse the garment thoroughly with cold water and check to see if the stain is still there. If so, repeat the process.
- Wash the garment according to care instructions and air dry.
Removing Set-In Red Wine Stains
- Mix one part hydrogen peroxide with two parts water.
- Soak the stained area in the solution for 30 minutes.
- Rinse the item of clothing with cold water.
- If the stain persists, use a few drops of liquid dish soap to work into the stain.
- Allow it to sit for 15 minutes before rinsing with cold water.
- Continue to rinse with cold water until stain has been removed.
- Wash the garment according to the care instructions and air dry.
