What You'll Need
- Baking soda
- White vinegar
- Sponge/cleaning cloth
- Laundry detergent
- Soft-bristled brush
- Dish soap
Steps to Follow
- Blot up as much of the red wine as possible using a sponge or cleaning cloth.
- Mix one part baking soda and one part white vinegar into a paste.
- Apply the paste directly onto red wine stain and gently scrub using a soft-bristled brush.
- Rinse the paste off with cool water and dry the surface with a clean cloth or towel.
- Mix one tablespoon of laundry detergent with a cup of warm water and stir until it is dissolved.
- Dip a sponge in the detergent solution and gently scrub stained area in a circular motion.
- Rinse the surface with cool water and then wipe it down with a damp cloth.
- If the stain still remains, apply a small amount of dish soap directly onto the stain and scrub with a soft-bristled brush.
- Rinse the spot with cool water and dry the surface with a clean cloth or towel.
Tips & Tricks
- If stain has been sitting for a while, you can use a mixture of vinegar, baking soda, and dish soap to help lift the stain.
- Be sure to blot stain, rather than rubbing it back and forth. This will help to prevent the stain from spreading.
