The first step is to blot the stain with a clean cloth or paper towel as soon as possible. Don't try to rub the stain out; otherwise, it could spread and become worse. Never use warm water either (or any other warm liquid), as this will also hasten the absorption of red wine into the fabric.
When stain has been blotted, move to soaking the affected area in cold water for 20-30 minutes. This can help to extract the remaining red wine particles from the fabric and make them easier to remove. Be sure to use cold, rather than hot, water as heat can also encourage staining.
After the garment has been soaked, it's time to use some detergent. Fill a sink or tub with cold water and add in a small amount of detergent specifically designed for delicate fabrics, such as an Ariel detergent suitable for wool and silk. Soak the garment for another 20-30 minutes, then rinse with cold water.
If you find that the red wine stain remains after normal laundering, there's one final step to try: white vinegar. Soak the garment in a mixture of 2 parts cold water and 1 part white vinegar for 20 minutes, then rinse with cold water. This solution should help to remove any stubborn red wine stains from your Abercrombie & Fitch clothing.
