Step 1: Remove Excess Stain

Take a damp cloth and gently remove as much of the stain as you can. Don't rub too hard - you don't want to spread it around. You just want to remove the excess material.

Step 2: Treat the Stain with a Cleaning Solution

Now that you've removed the excess, it's time to treat the stain with a cleaning solution. You can use a store-bought cleaner, or a homemade mixture of one part white vinegar and two parts water. Apply the cleaner directly to the affected area, and then blot with a clean cloth. Don't rub, just blot.

Step 3: Rinse With Cold Water

Now that the stain has been treated, it's time to rinse it away with cold water. Fill a bowl with cold water, and dip the stained area into the bowl. Gently swish it around in the water, and then dry it off with a clean cloth.

Step 4: Launder According to the Garment Label

Next, it's time to wash the garment according to the label instructions. If the label suggests hand washing, do so. Otherwise, you can machine wash it in cold or warm water. Be sure to use a mild detergent and avoid using fabric softener. Then, hang the item on a line or lay it flat to dry.

Bonus Tips

  • If you're dealing with a particularly stubborn stain, you can apply a paste of baking soda and water to the area and let it sit for 15 minutes before laundering.
  • If the stain remains after laundering, you can apply a small amount of hydrogen peroxide to affected area and let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing. Note that this will only work on light-colored fabrics.
  • To prevent future stains, consider applying a fabric protector spray to your yoga pants.
