Remove Fresh Spills Immediately

Whenever a pet has an accident near your UGGs, it's essential to act quickly and clean up the mess as soon as possible. Removing fresh spills before they have time to set can make it much easier to clean your UGGs.

Start with blotting the affected area with a paper towel or cloth in order to absorb as much of the liquid as possible. Once the area is dry, sprinkle baking soda over the stain. This will aid in the stain’s absorption and reduce the odor left behind.

Treat Stubborn Stains with Vinegar and Baking Soda

Stubborn pet stains that have already set in require a bit more effort to clean. Begin by using a pet odor neutralizer or enzymatic cleaner, which helps break down tough odors and stains. After spraying the affected area, follow up with a mixture of warm water, white vinegar and baking soda. Work mixture into the stain with a soft-bristle brush. Rinse with cold water and blot the area with a towel.

Use Woolite for Delicate Materials

For more delicate UGG materials, such as suede, the best option may be to use Woolite. Before treating the area with Woolite, brush the shoe gently with a suede brush. Then, spray affected area with Woolite and allow it to sit for a few minutes. Blot area and then rinse off the Woolite with cold water. Finally, let the UGGs air dry.

Prevent Future Stains with Protective Sprays

To keep your UGGs looking their best, it is important to protect them against future pet stains. UV protective sprays can be applied to the shoes to guard against everyday wear and tear. Additionally, stain repellent sprays can provide better protection against pet stains.

Additional Tips for Cleaning UGGs

  • When brushing shoes, always use a soft bristled brush made specifically for UGG materials.
  • Avoid washing your UGGs too often. Doing this can lead to fading, cracking and other damage.
  • Never put UGGs in the washing machine or dryer.
  • Once you remove a pet stain, store the UGGs in a cool and dry place to ensure complete drying.
