Step One: Pretreat the Stain

The best way to start treating pet stains on your tux is to pre-treat the fabric. There are a variety of pretreatment products available for tackling pet stains. These can be anything from enzymatic cleaners to spot cleaners. If you don’t have any of these products on-hand, you can also use a mix of white vinegar and water or laundry detergent diluted in water.

Once you have a pre-treatment product ready, spray it directly onto the stain and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.

Step Two: Blot the Stain

Take a clean cloth and gently blot the stain, absorbing as much of pre-treatment solution as possible. Do not rub the cloth as this may spread the stain further into the fabric. After you've blotted stain, rinse the area with cold water to remove pre-treatment solution.

Step Three: Wash the Stain

You have two options for washing the stain: hand wash or machine wash. If you are hand washing, use a mild detergent and warm water and gently scrub stained area. If using a machine, use the gentle cycle with a mild detergent, cold water and a color safe bleach if desired.

Step Four: Dry the Stain

After the stain has been washed, you need to dry it. For best results, air dry the tuxedo, either by hanging it up or laying it flat. If you need to speed up the drying process, use a low heat or no-heat setting in the dryer. Never use hot water or high heat when drying a tuxedo, as this could cause further damage to the fabrics.

Step Five: Repeat if Necessary

If the stain has not been completely removed after the first wash, repeat the steps mentioned above until the stain is gone. It may take several attempts to fully remove tough stains from tuxedos.

Conclusion

Dealing with pet stains on your tuxedo doesn't have to be scary! With the easy steps outlined in this article, you will be able to remove any pet stains quickly and easily. Remember to take your time, be careful with harsh chemicals or too much heat, and never give up!
