Accidents and messes caused by pets can be especially tricky when it comes to fabrics like t-shirts, but with the right ingredients, they need not be daunting. Keep in mind that some fabric dyes may be prone to fading or staining when exposed to certain cleaning agents, so plan your approach before beginning.

What You'll Need:

  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Mild laundry detergent
  • Paper towels

Instructions:

  1. Blot the stain with a paper towel to absorb as much liquid as possible. Do not rub the stain as this may cause the stain to spread.
  2. Sprinkle baking soda generously onto the stain to absorb moisture.
  3. Mix one tablespoon of white vinegar with one tablespoon of mild laundry detergent. Apply mixture to stained area and let sit for up to 15 minutes.
  4. Use a damp cloth to gently massage the stained area in a circular motion.
  5. After massaging, rinse the stained area with cold water.
  6. Place the t-shirt into the washing machine and add a mild detergent. Wash on a cold cycle and dry as normal.

For stubborn stains, you can repeat Steps 1 through 6. It is important to note that a stain should never be dried in a clothes dryer until it has been completely removed, otherwise it may permanently set in.
