It’s not easy to remove pet stains from traditional dresses, because their fabric is often delicate and complex. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you clean pet stains from your traditional dress, so you don’t have to worry about the mess.

Step 1: Blot up the Stain

Using a white, absorbent cloth or paper towel, blot and press on the stained area to absorb as much of the liquid and stain as possible. Don’t rub material, as this may cause an even bigger stain.

Step 2: Pretreat the Stain

Mix up a pretreating solution using 1 teaspoon of dish soap and 1 cup of cool water. Use a white cloth to dab and rub solution into the stained area until the entire area is covered. Let the solution sit for 10 minutes.

Step 3: Rinse with Cool Water

Rinse off the pretreat solution with cool water. If the stain remains, repeat steps 2 and 3.

Step 4: Soak in Oxygen Bleach

Soak the stained area of the fabric in oxygen bleach mixed with lukewarm water. Allow the fabric to soak for 30 minutes, checking regularly to make sure stain is lifting.

Step 5: Rinse Again with Cold Water

After soaking, rinse fabric with cold water until all of the oxygen bleach has been removed.

Step 6: Hang to Dry

Hang garment up to dry, being careful not to place it near direct sunlight which could fade the color. Do NOT put garment in the dryer as this could set the stain.

Step 7: Do a Final Check

Take a close look at the garment and make sure that the stains have been removed. If not, repeat steps 2 through 6.
