Step 1: pH Balance the Pool Water

When dealing with pet stains, start off by checking the pH balance of your pool water. If it’s too high or too low, pet stains may be more difficult to remove, as the acidic or alkaline nature of water may cause it to cling to the pool liner. Use a testing kit to check your pH levels and add either a pH raiser or pH reducer to balance the water accordingly.

Step 2: Vacuum the Stains

Once you’ve balanced the pool water, it’s time to vacuum up any debris that could be stuck to the pet stains. Use a good-quality pool vacuum to make sure all of dirt, sand, leaves and other particles are removed. Make sure to vacuum the entire pool liner area and use short, slow strokes so that you don’t miss any spots.

Step 3: Apply a Stain Remover

The next step is to apply a stain remover specifically designed for pool liners. There are many products available on the market, so make sure to choose one that is safe and effective. Follow the directions on bottle, as they will vary depending on the product. Generally speaking, you’ll want to apply the remover directly to the affected area and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before scrubbing it away with a soft-bristled brush.

Step 4: Rinse and Repeat

If the stain remains after the initial application, try repeating steps 2 and 3. Use your vacuum to remove any remaining debris and then apply the stain remover again. You may need to repeat this process several times in order to fully remove the stain.

Step 5: Let the Area Dry

Once you’ve removed the stain, it’s important to let area dry completely before using the pool again. This will help prevent any remaining residue from clinging to pool liner.

Step 6: Add Chemicals to Keep Pool Clean

Finally, add necessary pool chemicals to keep the water clean and balanced. Follow the instructions on the packaging and test the pH balance regularly. You may also want to invest in a pool cover to keep pet hair and other debris out and make cleaning up easier.
