Use a dry cleaning pad or an eraser to gently remove any loose material from the shoe. Test pad/eraser on a hidden corner of the shoe first to make sure it won’t scratch or damage the material. Do not rub too hard, as this might affect the color of the shoe.
If possible, use a white cloth or sponge to absorb excess liquid. Then, switch to newspaper, paper towels, or a cloth to soak up the remaining dampness. Try to blot instead of rub the material, so you don’t spread the stain.
Mix a few drops of either rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide with warm water in a cup and stir. With a damp cloth, apply the solution to the spot and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, take a clean cloth or sponge and press into the spot to remove the pet stain as much as possible.
When the area is clean, rinse affected spot with warm water. Again, avoid rubbing in case it spreads the stain. Instead, just pat the surface with your fingertips and then let the shoe air dry.
If the stain doesn’t come off after the first attempt, repeat the above steps. Don’t scrub too vigorously, as this might damage the shoe’s material. Just blot and wipe gently until the stain is gone.
With some patience and simple cleaning supplies, removing pet stains from shoes can be an achievable task. So don’t panic if your favorite pair of shoes gets stained by your furry friends - just follow the instructions above for a quick and effective solution.
