When to Clean
Act quickly when you notice a pet stain on your skirt. It's important to remove the stain before it sets into the garment.
Gather Supplies
Before starting, you'll need a few cleaning supplies. Gather white vinegar, baking soda, a cloth or sponge, and a laundry detergent containing enzymes such as a detergent for pet-stained clothing.
Pretreat
Start by pretreating the stain. Pro tip: use lukewarm water. Then, apply a mixture of 1 teaspoon detergent to 1 cup of water directly onto stain. Blot the area gently with a clean cloth or sponge.
Rinse
Rinse the area with lukewarm water until the stain has been removed. If stain is still visible, you can use a combination of white vinegar and baking soda. Spray or dab mixture onto stain, let sit for 10 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water.
Wash
Once the stain has been removed, it's time to wash your skirt. Turn it inside out and wash it in cold water on delicate cycle. When finished, air dry the skirt. Do not put it in the dryer.
Prevent Future Stains
Pet stains can be difficult to remove, so it's best to prevent them in the first place. Keep an eye on your pet while they're playing in your closet, and be sure to bathe them regularly.
