What You'll Need:
- Laundry detergent
- White vinegar
- Baking soda
- Ammonia
- Soft cloths
- Towels
- Water
Instructions:
- If the stain is still wet, first use a soft cloth to blot up as much of the liquid as you can.
- Mix together one teaspoon of laundry detergent, one cup of white vinegar, and five cups of water. Soak a towel in this solution and blot the area where the stain is.
- Mix together one tablespoon of baking soda and one cup of warm water. Again, soak a cloth in this mixture and blot the area.
- Mix together one tablespoon of ammonia and one cup of warm water. Blot area with this solution.
- Once all the solutions have been used, rinse the area with cold water. Press a clean cloth against the area to absorb any excess moisture.
- Finally, lay a few towels over the spot and place something heavy on top (like a book). Leave this overnight so that they absorb any remaining moisture.
Final Tips:
- Ensure all solutions are at room temperature, as hot temperatures could damage the fabric.
- Always test the mixtures on an inconspicuous area of the fabric beforehand, to make sure there's no discoloration.
- Be gentle when rubbing mixtures into the fabric. Work from outside of the stain towards the center, so it doesn't spread.
