What You'll Need:

  • Laundry detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Ammonia
  • Soft cloths
  • Towels
  • Water

Instructions:

  1. If the stain is still wet, first use a soft cloth to blot up as much of the liquid as you can.
  2. Mix together one teaspoon of laundry detergent, one cup of white vinegar, and five cups of water. Soak a towel in this solution and blot the area where the stain is.
  3. Mix together one tablespoon of baking soda and one cup of warm water. Again, soak a cloth in this mixture and blot the area.
  4. Mix together one tablespoon of ammonia and one cup of warm water. Blot area with this solution.
  5. Once all the solutions have been used, rinse the area with cold water. Press a clean cloth against the area to absorb any excess moisture.
  6. Finally, lay a few towels over the spot and place something heavy on top (like a book). Leave this overnight so that they absorb any remaining moisture.

Final Tips:

  • Ensure all solutions are at room temperature, as hot temperatures could damage the fabric.
  • Always test the mixtures on an inconspicuous area of the fabric beforehand, to make sure there's no discoloration.
  • Be gentle when rubbing mixtures into the fabric. Work from outside of the stain towards the center, so it doesn't spread.
