Whether it’s a wet or dry pet stain, start by ensuring the area is completely dry before beginning. If there is a wet stain, use a clean cloth or white paper towel to blot area without rubbing.

You will then want to try to remove the stain using plain soap and water. Dip a clean cloth in lukewarm water and add a few drops of gentle detergent. Gently dab at stain until it dissipates. This should help remove the stain. Rinse the cloth often and change the water.

If the stain persists, try using a fabric cleaner designed for pet urine. Most pet stores carry a variety of items specifically designed to break down pet stains. Follow manufacturer’s instructions and use caution when working with any chemicals.

If the stain still remains, you can try an enzymatic cleaner. These cleaners contain enzymes that break down pet wastes and neutralize odor-causing bacteria. Make sure you don’t buy a cleaner that contains bleach, as this can damage your scarf.

When you have removed stain, finish by thoroughly rinsing the scarf. Then hang it up to dry in a warm, but not hot, area. Once it’s dry, inspect the scarf and make sure the stain has been removed.

It might take some trial and error to find the right pet stain removal method, but with a little patience, your scarf will be as good as new.
