Polyester is a popular material found in rugs, furniture, and clothing. Unfortunately, pet accidents can ruin the look and feel of polyester fabric. Fortunately, there are a few simple steps that you can take to remove pet stains from polyester.

What You'll Need

  • Clean cloths or paper towels
  • Water
  • Baking soda
  • White vinegar

Step 1: Blot Stains

The first thing you'll want to do is to blot (not rub) the stain with a clean cloth or paper towel. This will help to absorb any excess moisture from the stain.

Step 2: Make a Baking Soda Paste

Next, you'll want to make a paste using baking soda and water. You'll want to mix the two ingredients until you have a thick paste. Then, apply the paste directly onto the stain and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.

Step 3: Mix Vinegar & Dishwashing Liquid

In a bowl, mix together white vinegar and dishwashing liquid. You'll want to use equal parts of each ingredient to make a cleaning solution. Once the solution is ready, use a cloth to apply it to stained area.

Step 4: Rinse & Dry

Once you've applied the cleaning solution, you'll want to rinse the stained area with lukewarm water. After rinsing, you'll want to dry the area with a clean cloth or paper towel. You may need to repeat this step more than once if stain is stubborn.
