What You Need:

  • Liquid dish detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Soft cloth
  • Laundry machine

Step 1: Blotting the Stain

Begin by using a soft cloth or a paper towel to blot up as much of the liquid as you can. Keep blotting until you have removed as much liquid as possible. Avoid scrubbing the material - this may push the stain further into the fabric.

Step 2: Preparing Cleaning Solution

Mix one teaspoon of liquid dish detergent with one cup of lukewarm water. Stir the ingredients together to form a cleaning solution.

Step 3: Test the Solution

Before treating the stain, test the solution on an inconspicuous area of skirt, such as a seam, to make sure it won’t damage the fabric.

Step 4: Applying the Solution

Dip a soft cloth into the cleaning solution and use it to dab the stain, working from the outside of the stain inwards. Continue until the stain disappears.

Step 5: Rinse with Vinegar

Once the stain is gone, rinse area with a mixture of one cup of white vinegar and one cup of lukewarm water. This will help to ensure all the soap has been removed.

Step 6: Dry the Skirt

Leave your skirt to air dry. If necessary, you can also put it in the dryer on a low heat setting. Do not dry clean your skirt.
