Gather Your Cleaning Supplies

The first thing you need to do is assemble the right cleaning supplies. You may need the following:

  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Dish soap
  • Detergent
  • Small brush or old toothbrush
  • White cloth
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Crocus cloth

Vacuum The Area

Use your vacuum cleaner to remove any solid and dried mess from the area. This is important as it prevents the stain from spreading. Make sure to focus on the edges, where the stain may have spread.

Tackle Stain First

Now that most of solid mess has been removed, it’s time to tackle the stain itself. Start by mixing equal parts of white vinegar and water in a bowl. Take a cloth and use the solution to blot the stain. Once the stain has been thoroughly soaked, let it sit for 10 minutes. This will help loosen it up.

Scrub The Stain Away

Once the stain has been soaked, grab your brush or toothbrush and start scrubbing away at the stain. Make sure to avoid harsh pressure, as this can cause the stain to soak deeper into the carpet fibers. Scrub until you can no longer see the stain.

Wash The Area

Grab your dish soap and a white cloth. Dip the cloth into soapy solution and begin to wash the area. Make sure to rinse the area afterwards. If the stain is still visible, add some hydrogen peroxide to mixture and repeat. Finally, dry the area with a crocus cloth.

Prevent Pet Stains In The Future

Once the area is clean, it's important to take steps to prevent stains in the future. Regular vacuuming is essential, as it helps to keep the carpet fibers healthy and fresh. If possible, limit the areas where pets can roam. This can help curb any potential messes.
