Material Needed
- Clean towel
- Mild soap (dish or laundry detergents work great)
- Baking soda
- White vinegar
Cleaning Steps
- Start by blotting the stain with a clean towel to remove as much liquid as possible.
- Make a cleaning solution with a teaspoon of detergent and a cup of warm water.
- Dip a clean towel in cleaning solution, wring it out and dab the stain with the solution.
- Let the solution sit on the stain for several minutes.
- Rinse the affected area with cold water and then let it air dry.
- Once shoe is completely dry, sprinkle baking soda over it to help absorb any remaining moisture.
- Finally, mix one part vinegar with three parts warm water in a bowl, dip a cloth into the mixture and proceed to lightly scrub the stained area.
Additional Tips
- Avoid using a scrub brush or anything abrasive when cleaning the Nikes since it could cause further damage.
- Once you’ve cleaned the stained area, prevent the stain from returning by sprinkling baking soda or talcum powder once or twice a day.
- When needed, repeat the cleaning process until the stain is gone.
