Step 1: Absorb Any Liquid

Begin by blotting or pressing a paper towel onto the stain. This will absorb and remove as much of the liquid as possible.

Step 2: Prepare Your Solution

Mix a ¼ teaspoon of a mild detergent like dish soap, with one cup of warm water. Be sure to not use anything too harsh, as the fabric could be damaged.

Step 3: Soak the Stain

Dip a cloth or soft brush into the detergent solution, then apply it to your loafers in circular motions. Allow the solution to penetrate the stain for three to five minutes, before rinsing any excess off with a damp cloth.

Step 4: Dry the Loafers

Using paper towels, gently press some of the moisture out of the shoes. Allow them to air-dry in indirect sunlight.

Bonus Tips

  • If the stain persists, try applying vodka to a cloth and wiping it, or mixing 1 tablespoon of ammonia into 1 cup of warm water, and soaking the stain again.
  • If you need to re-stain the leather surfaces after cleaning, try using a leather conditioner.
