If surface of your kitchen utensil is non-porous, such as plastic, metal or ceramic, you'll want to remove the stain as quickly as possible. First, wipe down the area with a damp towel or cloth. This will help remove any loose particles and will help the cleaning process go more smoothly. Next, prepare a cleaning solution using a combination of dish soap, warm water and vinegar. Make sure solution is mixed well, then apply it to the stained area. Scrub gently until the stain begins to lift, then rinse with warm water and a cloth. Once the stain is gone, dry the area with a soft towel. If necessary, repeat the process until the stain is fully removed.
For porous surfaces such as wood or fabric, the method of removing pet stains will differ slightly. Begin by wiping down the area with a damp cloth, again to remove any loose particles. Next, make a cleaning solution using a combination of 1 teaspoon of liquid dish detergent and 2 cups of warm water. Using a clean cloth, dab solution onto stained area and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Then, scrub gently with a soft brush or cloth. Rinse with water and allow area to dry. Repeat process until the stain is fully removed.
The best way to prevent pet stains on your kitchen utensils is to create a designated feeding area. Establish an area in your kitchen that is out of the reach of pets and young children. This way, your utensils will be safe from accidental spills and messes. Additionally, you should always keep an eye on your pet when they’re in close proximity of your kitchen utensils.
