Keds are a popular, classic footwear choice that can last you years with proper care. Unfortunately, pet accidents can quickly cause damage by staining and leaving unpleasant odors behind. The good news is, with a few quick steps, you can learn how to get pet stains out of your Keds and put them back in like-new condition.

What You'll Need
- Clean cloth
- Towel
- Water
- Mild laundry detergent
- White vinegar
- Baking soda (optional)
Instructions
- Scrape off any debris on surface of the shoe. Use a clean cloth or towel to help blot up excess moisture and wet the stain.
- Mix a mixture of warm water and mild laundry detergent. Using a clean cloth, dab mixture onto the stain.
- Leave the mixture on for five minutes to allow it to penetrate and break down the stain.
- Rinse affected area with clean warm water.
- Combine white vinegar and baking soda (optional) to form a paste. Apply to the stain and gently scrub with a toothbrush.
- Wipe away the paste with a damp cloth and rinse again with warm water.
- Lay out a towel on a flat surface and place the Keds on top. Allow them to air dry completely.
Tips
- Keep in mind that some fabrics may not be colorfast. Always perform a spot test on a small, inconspicuous area of the shoe to make sure the cleaning solution won't harm the color of the fabric.
- If the stain has set in and still remains, consider taking your Keds to a professional cleaner.
