What You'll Need

  • Clean cloth
  • Towel
  • Water
  • Mild laundry detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda (optional)

Instructions

  1. Scrape off any debris on surface of the shoe. Use a clean cloth or towel to help blot up excess moisture and wet the stain.
  2. Mix a mixture of warm water and mild laundry detergent. Using a clean cloth, dab mixture onto the stain.
  3. Leave the mixture on for five minutes to allow it to penetrate and break down the stain.
  4. Rinse affected area with clean warm water.
  5. Combine white vinegar and baking soda (optional) to form a paste. Apply to the stain and gently scrub with a toothbrush.
  6. Wipe away the paste with a damp cloth and rinse again with warm water.
  7. Lay out a towel on a flat surface and place the Keds on top. Allow them to air dry completely.

Tips

  • Keep in mind that some fabrics may not be colorfast. Always perform a spot test on a small, inconspicuous area of the shoe to make sure the cleaning solution won't harm the color of the fabric.
  • If the stain has set in and still remains, consider taking your Keds to a professional cleaner.
