Removing Pet Stains from Clothes

When it comes to cleaning pet stains from your Forever 21 clothing, the best approach is to act quickly. If a stain sets in, it can be harder to remove.

Using a Detergent Solution

If the item isn’t dry-clean only, you can apply a detergent solution directly to the area and blot it up with a white cloth. The key is not to rub the stain, which could further spread the mess. To create your own detergent solution, mix one teaspoon of clear liquid dishwashing detergent with one cup of warm water. It’s important to use a non-bleach cleaner when working with colors.

Using a Stain Remover

Stain removers are available at most drugstores and big box stores and are specifically designed to tackle stubborn stains. For use on fabric, purchase a non-bleach stain remover that is safe for colors. Follow the instructions on package, and test the product inside a small, hidden area of the garment before applying it to stain.

Cleaning Pet Stains On the Go

If you don’t have access to a washing machine or stain remover, you can use items you already have on hand to clean pet stains from your clothes.

Using Baby Wipes

Baby wipes work well on many types of stains. Grab one (or several) and gently dab the area with a firm pressure until the wipe comes away clean. Then, rinse with cold water and allow the spot to air dry.

Using Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide

For tougher pet stains, you can use a mixture of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to create a stain-fighting paste. Apply the paste and let sit for 10 minutes, then wipe away with a damp cloth. Rinse the area and let air dry.

Preventing Pet Stains

The best way to deal with pet stains is to prevent them in the first place. To protect your clothes, keep pets out of laundry room and off of surfaces like sofas and tables where food and drinks are served. Additionally, ensure that all pet accidents are cleaned promptly and adequately. A good vacuum and an enzymatic cleaner will tackle tough pet messes.
