The first thing to do is to blot up as much excess moisture from the stain as you can. Do this by laying a cloth or paper towel over area and pressing gently. Do not rub the stain, as this spreads moisture further into fabric and makes it harder to remove.
In a bowl or container, mix a solution of 1 teaspoon of mild detergent and one litre of cold water. Using a soft-bristled brush, agitate the solution to create suds. If you do not have a soft-bristled brush, you can use your hands.
Using a sponge, apply the soapy solution to the stain. Be sure not to rub stain, as this will damage the fabric. Instead, use a patting motion to allow the solution to penetrate the fabric and break down the stain.
Rinse the area with clean water. It may take several rinses before all of the detergent has been removed. Once the area is free of detergent, dab the area with a dry cloth to absorb any remaining moisture.
Air drying is best way to make sure that your Dashiki is not damaged further. Do not put Dashiki in a clothes drier, as this too can cause further damage. Leave the Dashiki in a cool, dry place to air dry.
With just a few simple steps, you can easily remove pet stains from your Dashiki. As always, be sure to test any cleaning product on a small, inconspicuous area of the fabric before using it. That way, you can make sure that it does not cause any further damage to the fabric.
