What You'll Need:

  • Baking soda
  • White vinegar
  • Dish soap
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Rubbing alcohol

Step One: Blot & Contain

The first tip for tackling pet stains on cotton voile is to blot up as much of liquid as possible with a clean, dry cloth. Make sure to use gentle pressure as to not damage the fabric. After that, contain the stain by creating a border around it with baking soda. This will help to trap the mess and keep it from spreading further.

Step Two: Mix Your Cleaning Solution

Once the mess is contained, you can start to work on getting rid of stain. The best way to do this is by mixing together some dish soap, white vinegar, and hydrogen peroxide in a bowl. The ingredients should be mixed in equal parts. For example, if you’re using one cup of dish soap, you’ll also use one cup of vinegar and one cup of hydrogen peroxide.

Step Three: Apply the Solution & Soak

When your cleaning solution is mixed and ready, take a clean cloth and dip it in the mixture. Gently dab the cloth onto the stain, making sure to cover the entire area. Let the mixture sit for several minutes before wiping off with a damp cloth. The baking soda should absorb some of the mess and the hydrogen peroxide should break down any remaining odors.

Step Four: Rinse & Dry

When you’ve wiped away the solution, rinse the area with cold water and then pat dry with a clean cloth. Be careful not to rub or scrub the fabric too hard, as this could damage delicate cotton voile.

Optional Step: Treat With Rubbing Alcohol

If stain is particularly stubborn, you can try treating it with some rubbing alcohol. Simply apply the alcohol to a cloth and dab it onto the stain. It’s important to test the rubbing alcohol on a small, inconspicuous part of fabric first to make sure it won’t discolor or damage it.
