The first thing you need to do is blot stain with a clean, white towel. Blot the stained area only; do not rub at it or you may spread the stain out further than it is already. You may also want to place a heavy object on top of the fabric to help draw out the stain from the fibers.
Once you’ve blotted up as much of the stain as possible, you can then apply a stain remover specifically designed for pet stains. Be sure to read and follow the instructions on the label, and test your chosen product in an inconspicuous area before applying it to stained area to make sure it won’t damage the fabric.
After the stain remover has had time to work (typically between 15 and 30 minutes), rinse the fabric thoroughly with cool water. Be sure to rinse away all traces of the stain remover before moving on to the next step.
Apply some mild detergent to the area and allow it to sit for approximately 15 minutes. Then, rinse the fabric with cool water again. This will help remove any residue from stain remover and detergent that may be left behind.
Finally, wash the fabric as you normally would. To be safe, you may want to wash the fabric by itself, or with other items that are a similar color. This will ensure that no additional colors are transferred onto your fabric.
By following these five easy steps, you can quickly and easily get rid of pet stains from cotton piqué. With a little patience and the right cleaning products, you can restore your fabric to its former glory without having to worry about the stain.
