What You'll Need

  • Cold water
  • Gentle detergent
  • White cloth or sponge
  • Baking soda (optional)
  • Vinegar (optional)

Step 1: Blot the Stain with Cold Water

First, grab your white cloth or sponge, dip it in cold water, and blot the stained area. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing. You want to keep the fabric as intact as possible. This will help prevent the stain from spreading further.

Step 2: Apply Gentle Detergent

Once you’ve blotted up some of the stain, it’s time to apply a gentle detergent. Pour a small amount of detergent onto the stain and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, using a damp cloth or sponge, gently work the detergent into fabric. Again, avoid rubbing or scrubbing.

Step 3: Rinse and Let Dry

After a few minutes, rinse the garment with cold water until all the detergent is gone. Gently squeeze out the excess water and let the garment air dry on its own. Do not use a hairdryer or direct heat as this can cause the stain to set.

Optional Steps

If stain persists, you can make a paste of baking soda and water and gently rub it into fabric. Let it dry and then brush it off. You can also try dabbing a little vinegar onto stain and letting it sit for a few minutes before rinsing. Just be sure to test the vinegar on a hidden part of the fabric first to make sure it won’t damage the fabric.
