The first thing you need to do is scrape away any excess material from the stain. Make sure to do this carefully, as you don't want to spread the stain or end up snagging your cardigan with a sharp object. A soft cloth will often do the trick.
Once the excess material has been removed, use a clean cloth to gently blot the stain. This will help to absorb as much of the stain as possible. Be sure not to rub the cloth back and forth as this could end up further pushing the residue into the fabric.
Combine an equal amount of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle and spray the stained area. Allow the mixture to sit for a few minutes to allow it to penetrate stain. You can then use a cleaning brush to further help break down and eliminate any remaining residue.
After vinegar solution has had some time to sit, use a clean cloth to wipe away any remaining residue. Repeat the vinegar spray and wiping process until the stain is completely gone. Remember that if you still find that the stain won't come out, you may need to treat the area with a paste-like mixture of baking soda and water.
Once the pet stain has been successfully removed, you can launder the cardigan as normal. Be sure to check label for instructions on how to clean the garment properly.
Getting pet stains out of a cardigan doesn't have to be a hassle. By following the steps above, you can easily and effectively remove any pet stains from your cardigan without damaging the fabric. With a little bit of patience and elbow grease, you'll be able to keep your cardigan looking like new.
