Step 1: Pre-Treat
If the stain is relatively fresh, you should pre-treat it with a solution of mild detergent and water. Mix one teaspoon of gentle laundry detergent in a cup of lukewarm water and stir until it is well combined. Use a soft cloth to dab solution directly onto stain. For a stubborn stain, use an old toothbrush to gently scrub the area. Allow solution to sit on the stain for 5 minutes before proceeding to step two.
Step 2: Soak
Fill a clean sink or bucket with lukewarm to cool water. Add a capful of mild laundry detergent and stir. Allow camisole to sit in the soapy water for 15 minutes. If possible, use a light handwashing action while camisole is soaking to further help break down the stain.
Step 3: Rinse and Repeat
After 15 minutes, run camisole under lukewarm water. If any of the stain remains, repeat steps 1-3 until the stain has been removed.
Step 4: Dry
Lay the camisole flat on a dry towel and roll up the towel to absorb excess moisture. Once most of the moisture has been absorbed, allow the camisole to air dry on its own. Do not place the garment in the dryer as this could cause the stain to set further.
Step 5: Deodorize
If the pet stain leaves behind any unwanted odours, sprinkle a light layer of baking soda over affected area. Allow the baking soda to sit overnight, then vacuum or brush away in the morning.
Extra Tips
• If stain is oil based, apply a liberal amount of cornstarch to the area and allow it to sit overnight. The cornstarch will help absorb the oil and aid in the cleaning process. • Always check and follow the manufacturer’s instructions prior to cleaning any garment. • For a stubborn stain, you can also try spraying the area with a mixture of white vinegar and lukewarm water.
