Preparing Your Materials

Before you get started, it would be wise to prepare your area and gather the materials needed to remove the stain. Make sure that you are in a well-ventilated area, and cover any furniture with old towels or newspapers that you don't mind getting stained. Gather a few supplies: ammonia, cleaner designed to tackle pet stains, an absorbent cloth and a clothes brush, and a washing machine.

Tackling the Stain with an Ammonia Solution

The first step is to create an ammonia solution, which is a natural cleaning agent that can help to break down organic matter and get rid of odors. Mix one cup of ammonia with half a gallon of cool water and stir until the solution is combined. Then, dip absorbent cloth into the mixture and begin to blot stain. Do not rub at the stain as this could cause it to spread or set it even deeper into the fabric.

Cleaning With Pet Stain Remover

After blotting the area with the ammonia solution, it's time to move onto a specialized pet stain remover. These solutions usually contain enzymes that work to break down the proteins and starches found in pet urine. Apply the solution to the area and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, take the clothing brush and gently scrubs the fabric in circular motions. This will help to loosen up any remaining debris or particles from the stain.

Finishing Up

Once the area has been thoroughly cleaned and scrubbed, rinse it off with cold water and leave it to air dry. Once it is completely dry, use a lint roller to pick up and fur or other debris that may have been left behind. Finally, place garment in the washing machine using a cold-water setting and gentle detergent. Let the garment dry naturally and then check the area to make sure the stain has been removed.
